AAEEBL represents a vibrant and collegial ePortfolio community with opportunities for engagement both in face-to-face and virtual settings. The following are some of the ways you can connect with other ePortfolio professionals through AAEEBL:

• Register for one of our virtual Meetups co-sponsored with the EPAC ePortfolio Community of Practice
• Access one of our open access resources including the AAEEBL ePortfolio Review, Field Guide to ePortfolio sponsored by AAEEBL and the Association of American Colleges & Universities, or the International Journal of ePortfolio
• Join one of our conferences — this year, the AAEEBL Annual Meeting will be held at in New York City, July 15-18, 2019.  Past conferences have taken place in Vancouver, British Columbia for our 2018 Annual Meeting in July and a regional meeting was held in Dublin, Ireland in May 2018
• Volunteer to be added to our AAEEBL directory (we are listing volunteers by geography, area of focus, and technology choice)
• Join AAEEBL as a member and get involved in a Special Interest Group (current topics include Practices & Pedagogies, Technology, and Research)

The Association for Authentic, Experiential and Evidence-Based Learning (AAEEBL) ePortfolio Review (AePR) invites you to submit articles and reports covering the broad area of ePortfolio use.  We publish articles about pedagogy, research, technical, and organizational issues. Our readership includes ePortfolio practitioners, administrators, and students. Our mission is to serve the needs of the global ePortfolio community and promote portfolio learning as a major way to transform higher education.

The AePR is a theme-based journal; therefore, acceptance is competitive. After a paper is accepted for a specific issue, the author(s) is(are) paired with one of our peer reviewers. Papers submitted for a current issue may be considered for a subsequent issue if the editorial board feel it is a better fit for a future theme.

The next issue of the AAEEBL ePortfolio Review (AePR) is now accepting paper
proposals, with a deadline of July 5, 2026.

Next Issue’s Theme: ePortfolios in the Evolving State of Higher Education:
What Works? How Does It Work?

As the 11th high-impact practice, AAC&U and AAEEBL recognize the value of
ePortfolios. This year’s AAEEBL conference theme is “ePortfolios in the Evolving
State of Higher Education: What works? How does it work?” The AePR Summer
2026 Call for Proposals follows the same theme. What practices have you adopted at
your institution? What has worked in your context? What practices would be useful
to others? Share first at the AAEEBL conference and, after that, in the next edition
of AePR.
AePR welcomes research articles, case studies, practice-based insights, and
reflections that examine topics including, but not limited to

Advising on ways that ePortfolios can assist students with their job searches,
professional successes, and personal branding.
Submit an abstract of 250 words or less at the link below. Note that completed
papers are not accepted at this time. If your abstract is accepted, our editorial team
will contact you with further information.

Using ePortfolios to augment students’ learning, employment, and social
interactions while in college.

Teaching students to connect ePortfolio artifacts collected before college to
those accumulated in college and to future artifacts.

Sharing new ideas about teaching, grading, and assessment when students
bring ePortfolios into the college classroom.

Showcasing ePortfolios as tools for reflective practice and professional
identity development when students live with uncertainty, ambiguity, and
the need for flexibility.

Article Types

We’re particularly interested in the following types of articles:

• Long articles (3,000 to 5,000 words) about practical research, administrative reports, or case studies with generalizable results – again, not as peer-reviewed research but as reports.
• Short articles (1,000 to 1,500 words) discussing a case study at an institution/course, offering advice and opinions to other ePortfolio practitioners.
• How-to articles, tutorials on specific tools or approaches (500 to 1,500 words).
• Interviews (500 to 1000 words) with key individuals directly involved with the use of ePortfolios.
• Announcements (up to 300 words) of items regarding the use of ePortfolios in the field.
